Coach Andy Svatek began rock climbing at the University of Central Florida after visiting Orlando’s Aiguille Rock Climbing Center with his college roommates. He was instantly hooked on the athleticism, problem solving, and challenge climbing had to offer. He became involved in UCF’s Climbing Club and competed in USA Climbing’s Collegiate Climbing Series (CCS) throughout college. During his Junior year at UCF he was elected Vice President of UCF’s Climbing Club and competed at the 2011 CCS National Championship in San Diego.
Andy works primarily with the Elite and Summit climbing teams. With two years of coaching experience prior to joining Stone Summit he brings a unique style of coaching to the table; borrowing from lessons and experiences learned competing as a “traditional athlete” growing up. Andy is a former NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is known for his ‘athletic’ approach.
He loves the mentorship and leadership coaching offers and takes the most pride in seeing a student grow more in confidence than climbing ability.
Andy balances coaching at Stone Summit with a full-time job as Regional Manager of Mountain High Outfitters retail stores throughout the Southeast. His favorite climbing destinations include: Horsepens 40, Hueco Tanks, and the New River Gorge.
